Fix stuck Silverlight update kb951213 in Vista

Problem:

I got Vista Business 32-bit and Silverlight installed. The Windows Update tray icon (the yellow shield one) says it needs to update Silverlight with update kb951213. I click it, goes through the motions, says it’s installed, then about 1 minute later it’s back with the same update.

Solution:

click..

Go to this page: http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight and click “Install the new Silverlight 2 Beta 2 »”.

Note: depending on the update status of Silverlight, the listed version may vary

In my case I had version 1.0.something. After updating it, the page says I have version 2.0.30523.

Updating, still won’t make the tray icon disappear. You have to open Windows Update and click “Check for updates”.

When it finnishes searching it should say that everything’s okay and that you’re up to date.

Enjoy 😉
