Windows Server 2000 Service Pack 4: errors Rasman 20035/ Service Control Manager 7023

Problem:

This was a bit of a weird problem: I kept getting in Event Viewer error 20035 for “Rasman” and 7023 for “Service Control Manager”. This manifested itself, amog other things, in the impossibility to access some internet pages (even the windows update page).

Solution:

After a thorough google-ing for information I found the following solution:

  • Delete in the registry the NextID value HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Telephony\Cards\NextID
  • Reinstall Service Pack 4

Can’t delete printer, print job, or clear spooler folder

Problem:

I have a document stuck waiting to be printed or to be deleted and blocking up all future prints.

Solution:

  1. stop the printer spool service: Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services; right click on the Print Spooler service and choose Stop
  2. in Windows Explorer go here: C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS\ (note: the drive letter of your Windows folder may be different)
  3. delete all files within the PRINTERS folder
  4. go back to the Services window: right click on the Print Spooler service and choose Start

The End 🙂

Note: this works even with network printers

Problema se aplica sistemului de operare Windows XP cu sistem de fisiere FAT32 sau NTFS.

Problema:

Recently I have noticed that each time I boot my system, the operating system (Windows XP Pro SP2) runs ScanDisk on my D: drive, stating that the computer did not shut down properly, which is not true. The system then runs a full ScanDisk on drive D: and gives an error-free report. Then after that, each time I boot, it runs ScanDisk on my D: drive all over again, finds no errors. Kindly suggest how to get rid of this annoyance.
